Watch Out for the Nibbler!

Wake up call at 7:00! We all put on our cargos and boots and headed over to the dining hall for our "continental breakfast." We all learned bug spray was necessary after last night at the beach. We pulled up at the worksite and were told to get back in our vans. We ended up down the street from where we were yesterday at the double homes to move all the scrap to dumpsters to make it look more like a neighborhood than a scrap yard. We all became quick friends with the biting ants. Ouch! Some of us then went with Mr. Gower and Ms. Loyden to the warehouse and loaded up a moving truck. Lots of hard work was put into that! We all were reunited at our house on Union Street and began caulking and puting up siding on the house. LUNCH TIME! Around 12:00 we all came back to the seminary in the AC and ate lunch! After we ate like vultures (haha) we went back to the worksite. We made a new friend Ishaan who lives here in MS he will be working with us for the rest of the week to get all of his service hours for school. It is so great because none of his friends came but he still did! He instantly became part of the Prep family. Poor Shane and Jake... they were sent down the street to assemble bunk beds. Shane said in his reflection today that he has learned he will never buy bunk beds for his kids! With much talk of mohawks Mrs. Donnelly wanted none of that. The only compromise that was made that haircuts would only be allowed with permission of the moms. Mrs. Thomas responded without a second of hesitation, "NO!" The rest of the work day went smooth sailing. As the clouds moved in we kept on working. Around 4:15 we started to pack up and head out. We could not be more excited for showers. We ate like vulchres again at dinner and then had reflection in the dining hall. After going for a short walk- we went back to the dining hall for game night! Apples to Apples, Spoons, and the Name Game were quickly in action. we all are looking forward to what we have planned tomorrow. We are going to go to try some ice cream of the south which are more commonly known as snoballs!
Much Love from Mississippi,

To all, if you get another chance to eat snowballs, try the red velvet cake (doesn't sound quite right but is so delicious!) Keep up the good work guys, Bay St. Louis is a wonderful town full of so many good people, talk to as many as you can! They love visitors and want to share their stories with you, so listen up! They will move and inspire you.

Mrs. Donnelly, if you see him, say hi to Stephen for me. But don't really.

Lots and lots of love, Erin Grogan

  10. Hi Mom,
First I would like to point out that in the post they spelt Vultures wrong the second time, Mom you are an english teacher you supposed to check to make sure these things don't happen). Aside from correcting you I would just like to add that I miss you and that I asked/told Christopher that he had to make us pancakes the morning after you get home.

    Terrence,
I no longer only miss you a teeny bit it has no moved to I miss you an average amount, and please don't get a Mohawk. A Mohawk is worse then then the buzzed head.
    I love you both,
    Vienna

  12. Hello everyone! We're glad to hear you'all are working hard in the Mississippi sun.

Em, kevin and dad are talking about putting you to work on the shed roof when you get back:)- to demonstrate your new skills. Anna said "is that my shirt!?"- I'm sure she really misses you too. I've been putting her to work, in your absence. She will have to tell you about the birthday cake baking fiasco.

Make the most of it. You are sooo WINNING!! Miss you to pieces.xoxoxoemilysfavoritemom

  13. From a former Chap and long-time (read: OLD)friend of Mrs. Donnelly's...

Prep kids rule! LOVE LOVE LOVE that you welcomed the local student into your group. So glad you are having this wonderful experience and hope it's not your last. Service FEEDS the hungry soul!!

And little miss Vienna - excellent proofreading on someone else's message! Take a quick peek at your own too. ;)

Miss all you Donnellys. I promise to schedule a visit soon.

Oh yeah... and one final note: I vote YES on Mohawk Proposition 101. It's just hair... it grows back. Not like they're talking about tattoos!

Much love and prayers from Jersey.

What a fabulous experience you are having with such a great group of friends and teachers. We have some projects lined up for you both now that you seem quite comfortable with heights, hammers and paint!

    Be safe and enjoy yourselves.

  17. Hi, Jake -

Imagine all this fuss over Mohawks! When Sarah and Jimmy G. gave you yours two years ago (much to my shock), I only cried when I walked in the door and then immediately took you to the salon to get it all buzzed! Nothing to it, right Jake?!

Keep us all posted! Great photos everyone!

    Miss you, Jake! Love, Mom

  18. Just Some Observations:
DAVIS!!!! What happened??? Doesn't Mississippi have the proper Hair products? That sure doesn’t look like the “Davis hair” to me.

Someone tell Mr Cosgrove that it takes fewer muscles to smile than it does to frown. Or oh God please tell me that is not his smile.

Question, does Terrence and Jake decide what to wear the night before or in the morning?

Michael I could just here the discussion going something like this. No Davis not that cloud, that one. To which Davis responded. Wow we do not have clouds like that Scranton.

Most important observation is Great Job!!! The real value of a person is not what you take with you but what you leave behind.
    Mr. Gleason
